Breaking Free from the Grip of Pain: How Psychedelics Transformed my Experience of Physical Pain and Stress

I’ve always been a highly active person – always on the go, with plenty of tasks on my daily agenda, not to mention the multiple projects occupying my mind.

Always in a rush and never taking a break eventually took its toll. I had ignored the first signs of physical and emotional discomfort, so over time I became highly stressed and anxious, which inevitably lead to constantly elevated levels of stress and frequent panic attacks.

Very soon physical pain settled into my body and wouldn’t go away no matter how hard I tried to get rid of the symptoms. I reached to a point where I had to deal with constant emotional exhaustion and chronic pain.

With the fast-paced lifestyle I had, I knew it was a matter of time to break down completely. I didn’t know how to slow down, so the pain came to put the brakes on every aspect of my life.

I saw an array of specialists – from medical doctors and psychotherapists to osteopaths and chiropractors. I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder. Due to the unexplained muscle pain one neurologist even concluded that I had fibromyalgia. Despite my efforts to regain my health with various therapies and modalities, I couldn’t see any noticeable results which made me feel even more miserable. I started noticing the first signs of depressions.

I refused to let the pain and anxiety dominate my life. I knew that if I wanted to live a pain-free life I had to fully accept my symptoms instead of constantly trying to fight them. At that point, I realized that the only person I could rely on in order to heal was me.

It was a slow process but I had already started to reap the fruits of my hard work. Nevertheless, I still felt that something was missing so I could fully reclaim my physical and emotional health. I knew about the healing potential of psychedelics so I decided to give them a try. Until then, I had only used psychedelics recreationally and never with the intention to improve my life.

I started to prepare myself for a psychedelic journey with magic mushrooms in advance. I set my intentions and I meditated on them every morning and evening. I kept track of my thoughts and dreams in two separate journals. The day came and I met my coach at a place that I had rented for the purpose. My coach had taken care of everything – she had prepared the room for the session so I could feel comfortable and she had chosen the music which, it turned out later, had tremendous impact on my journey. We brewed the tea which consisted of magic mushrooms, herbs, ginger and lemon, cleansed the room and did a meditation practice. While I was sipping from the concoction, I tried to focus on my intentions for the last time before the trip.

I had the most meaningful and powerful experience that I could have imagined. This was not the first time I had taken entheogens but it was the first time I was ready to tap into my inner power and really work on myself. The physical pain had its firm grip for too long so I was ready to finally let it go. I am not saying that Golden Teacher cured me miraculously during this journey since I had spent more than six months using different therapies, practices and modalities to heal and recover. This experience simply made me realize that everything comes to an end sooner or later. It thought me that even though I could not control my thoughts I could control how I reacted to them.

Psychedelics gave me insights, expanded my consciousness, and facilitated deep healing on
emotional, spiritual, and psychological levels. Through these experiences, I discovered the potential for profound personal growth and transformation. Meanwhile, I became a Psychedelic Integration and Transformational Coach so I could support and guide others who are on their own journeys of self-discovery and healing.

The body holds the astounding capacity to heal and regenerate itself. It just needs the right tools to accelerate the process. That’s why I truly believe that entheogens hold the potential to reveal before us countless possibilities to walk a new path. Integrating the experience and making sense of all the insights gained during it is essential for lasting transformation.

Psychedelics are neither a “quick fix” nor a “magic bullet” that have solved all my problems. They won’t solve yours either. They are rather powerful tools that, if used with respect, intention and proper guidance, offer the opportunity to expand consciousness, hide the potential to unlock profound insights, facilitate healing, and heighten self-awareness, bringing attention to patterns of thoughts and behaviors that might be hindering one’s personal growth.
